Manufacturing Process – Centrifugal Casting and Machining:

A bushing, also known as a bush, is an independent plain bearing that is inserted into a housing to provide a bearing surface for rotary applications. We can supply the bronze and brass bushing.

These bushings are widely used in excavators, crushers, machine tools, turbine generators, and other machinery.

We supply C93200, C93700, and C93800 bushings, and can provide custom bronze or brass alternatives.

Large bushings are generally produced by centrifugal or sand casting—both available from us—while smaller bushings are made from continuously cast rod, which we also offer. Our facilities house extensive centrifugal and sand-casting equipment to meet these needs.

Bushings and sleeves are vital to cone crushers, shielding the eccentric shaft, socket, and countershaft from high-speed wear. They are usually made of bronze or alloy steel and must be properly lubricated.

Material Requirements

The chemical composition (ladle analysis) shall meet the following minimum and maximum percentage values:

Mechanical Properties

  • Minimum Tensile Strength: 24,600 PSI (≈170 MPa)

  • Minimum Yield Strength: 11,600 PSI (≈80 MPa)

  • Minimum Elongation (in 2 in. / 50 mm): 8%

These properties conform to EN 1982 standards for alloy CC496K used in sand casting and are also applicable to centrifugal and permanent mold castings made to the same specification.


Quality Standards

All critical load-bearing and finish surfaces of the casting must be free of shrinkage, cracks, porosity, blowholes, or hot tears that could affect the integrity or performance of the final part. Gates, risers, flash, and other cast-on elements must be completely removed and ground flush to match the contour of the surrounding casting surface.


Defect Limitations

  • The total area of defects on the casting surface shall not exceed 1% of the entire surface area.

  • Within any 144 square inches (929 cm²), the total defect area shall not exceed 2% of that region.

🟤 Pinholes (Porosity)

  • Pinholes smaller than 1.6 mm (0.063 in.) in diameter do not require repair unless:

    • The combined area of pinholes exceeds 1% of the affected surface, or

    • The defective surface fails a pressure test, if such a test is required.

  • If these conditions are not met, the casting must be repaired in accordance with the Repair Provisions.

⚫ Blowholes

  • Any blowhole larger than 9.6 mm (0.38 in.) shall result in rejection of the casting and must be repaired per Section 8.0 of the standard.

  • The total surface area of blowholes on any one surface (machined or as-cast) shall not exceed 0.8% of that surface.

  • A maximum of 20 blowholes is allowed within any 144 in² (929 cm²) area.

🔴 Cracks

  • Cracks on any bearing surface or any structurally significant area will result in rejection of the casting.

  • Cracks in non-critical areas that do not affect mechanical strength may be repaired by welding.
