High Performance, Low Wear Solutions

A self-lubricating bearing is a sleeve bearing, flange bushing, or customized bearings that do not require any additional external lubrication.
Sliding Bearings Technology features high performance, low wear self-lubricating bearing solutions using Fabric Liners, Metal-Polymer Composite Material, Dry Bushing Lubricants, Bimetal Bearing 2 layer, Carbon-Based Coatings engineered performance.

Sliding Bearing Feature: This bushing identifies a bearing in which a movable component, generally a shaft, shaft extension, or guide rail, slides on the surface of a stationary bushing, bearing seat, or slide strip. Plain bearings should carry or guide the moving parts opposite and absorb and transmit the forces that occur. The sliding movement takes place between the storage box and the stored component.

Maintenance-free Sliding Bushings Bearing

With regard to radially displaced bearings, the smooth movement of the sliding partners is ensured by the bearing clearance between the shaft and the bearing housing.

In the case of axially displaced bearings, the bearing play is defined by two axial areas assigned to each other by a common shaft. The sum of the opposing sliding surface and the distance determines the bearing play.

State-of-the-art constructions place ever greater demands on common sliding materials. Many customers expect a maintenance-free bearing, even if the operating conditions are complicated.

In addition, the ever-increasing pressure to keep production costs low requires a sustainable availability of our products, because to ensure the tolerance of the continued use of the engines and installations deployed, as such, any compromise on the reliability of our products is unacceptable.

Sliding Bearing Technology – Mechanical Properties

As a result of the various uses of plain bearings, even the most complex goals can be achieved.
Some plain bearings are relatively insensitive to impact, vibration, and shock due to their material and the damping effect of the hydrofoil. The plain bearings are quiet, robust and largely corrosion-resistant, and rarely require additional sealing.
Bushings are also available in split versions that fulfill their required functions in some designs.

For some types of plain bearings, a high starting torque is inevitable.
Maintenance-free plain bearings require constant and sufficient maintenance and lubricant supply.
The efficiency level of plain bearings is generally lower than that of anti-friction bearings.

Our engineering & sliding bearings are mainly delivered ready. Recyclable versions are possible for some bearing types. Inquiry Now!

Sliding Bearing Lubrication

  • Oil lubrication

Oil lubrication is preferable for high rotation speed and deformations, but also applicable for low rotation speed. The type of lubricating oil depends on the particular application. By increasing the adhesion and smoothing of sliding surfaces, molybdenum sulfide or graphite additives can improve the lubrication properties.

  • Grease lubrication

Grease lubrication should be applied in cases of low rotational frequency, endurance, and impact load, or if float friction is not within reach. High-quality plain bearing grease should only be used. Lubrications with solid additives exceeding a proportion of 2% are not recommended, as they are likely to cause wastage in advance.

  • Dry-film lubrication

Dry-film lubricants like molybdenum sulfide (MoS2) or graphite come to use at high temperatures, dry-running operation, or one-time lubrication.

  • Dry bearings without lubrication

These bearings consist mainly of composite material coated with PTFE or graphite bronze. Massive bushings tanned with pockets of solid lubricant on your slide are also maintenance-free. All-plastic sliding bearings are increasingly used in environments that require high-class dry bearings. The application limits for dry bearings are generally defined by specific heat conductivity and heat deformation.

Engineering Plain Bearing Technology

In pipes, flue gas ducts, boilers, heat exchangers, gas filters, etc. Thermodynamic expansions can occur due to temperature changes. This means that a lot of force can be suppressed in plain steel/steel bearings. Basically, the abrupt “discharge” of these limited forces due to the high friction values of the sliding partners can result in significant damage to the supporting structure and fixed points. In severe cases, this even leads to the deformation of the components up to the appearance of cracks in the material.

  • Optimal sliding pairing (stainless steel / PTFE) → Absolutely maintenance-free and resistant to aging
  • High load capacity in low overall height → Loads up to 2500 kN (standard), ≤ 10000 kN possible on request
  • Low friction coefficient → ca. 0,05 – 0,10
  • Prevention of edge pressure → For bearing types with calottes-body
  • Use even at high temperatures → Standard: -150°C to +250°C, high temperature: -150°C to +500°C
  • Corrosion protection → Galvanized or anticorrosion painting, (execution in stainless steel possible)
  • Optimal operating reliability → Use of the best materials
  • Well thought conception → Cost-effective, with a long lifetime
The flat-slide support bearings are designed for simple requirements and a compact and low-cost Plain bearings solution!
Calottes-slide support bearings are intended for demanding applications and equipped with the best possible use of properties!
These Slide plates for welding are provided for the use of simple bearings.

Sliding Bearing Storage

Tanned stainless steel and plastic sliding bearings are corrosion resistant. Steel and composite sliding bearings must be stored in a dry environment with low humidity and must be removed from the packaging immediately before assembly.

Our Sliding Bearing Mounting Details

  • Cylindrical and flanged liners are usually mounted with an interference fit pin.
  • To facilitate assembly, we recommend lubricating the end face of the bearing with grease or oil.
  • When installing larger wrapped sleeves, a mounting ring is recommended to pre-center the sleeve. This prevents squaring during force clamping.
  • The butt joint in wrapped plain bearings that are subjected to high loads must be positioned at 90 ° opposite the direction of the resistance.
To choose the ideal sliding bearing lubricant, it is advisable to talk to an adequate bushing & bearing manufacturer.

Stick In

In addition to pressing in, our plain bearings, thrust washers, and strips can be secured using a screw, pin, or glue.
In particular, our plastic bearings are often additionally secured by gluing to the housing. This is applicable if the bearing is exposed to strong temperature fluctuations.

The Bearing Running-in process

In the execution process, the lubricant or parts of the sliding layer are transferred to the counter surface. Thus, the roughness of the contact surface is filled and smoothed. This results in a sliding pairing, which shows low resistance to friction. Only after this procedure is completed, a positive slip behavior can be developed.
